BUMI Eyeing Bauxite and Alumina Business

🌏 BUMI Reportedly Plans to Enter Bauxite & Alumina Business

Kontan reported that Bumi Resources is exploring opportunities to acquire bauxite mines and plans to build an alumina smelter in the future. This news shows the company’s ambitious steps in expanding its business in the mining sector, which has been synonymous with coal.

Based on information from reliable sources, BUMI plans to cooperate with bauxite mining operations by collaborating with PT Laman Mining, a bauxite mining company based in West Kalimantan. This is certainly a strategic step for BUMI to strengthen their position in the mining industry and increase business diversification.

Responding to this issue, BUMI’s Corporate Secretary, Dileep Srivastava, explained that his party did not rule out the opportunity to acquire metal and other mineral mines. Dileep also affirmed that BUMI “will continue to make progress in non-coal projects such as metals and minerals.” This reflects the company’s aspiration to adapt to market needs and reduce dependence on coal facing global challenges.

With this move, BUMI seems to want to seize wider opportunities in the mineral market, which has also had bright prospects so far. Of course, this step could be a turning point for companies in achieving more sustainable long-term goals.
