It can be seen that car wholesales sales from their two main brands, namely Toyota and Daihatsu, have decreased significantly. This is certainly a highlight among investors and industry players.<\/p>\n<h2>Drastically Decreased Wholesale Sales<\/h2>\n<p>In December 2024, Toyota&#8217;s wholesale sales were recorded <strong>at 26,667 units<\/strong>, with a decrease <strong>of -17% year-on-year (YoY)<\/strong> and <strong>-1.2% month-on-month (MoM).<\/strong> Meanwhile, for Daihatsu, wholesale sales reached <strong>13,057 units<\/strong>, which despite showing positive growth of +2% YoY, it also increased sharply by <strong>+30% MoM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Poor Combined Performance<\/h3>\n<p>If we look at the whole, both brands experienced more severe performance declines. Combined wholesale sales of Toyota and Daihatsu recorded a decline of <em>-11% YoY<\/em>, despite an increase of <strong>+7% MoM<\/strong> in December 2024. This was worse compared to the broader automotive industry recapitulation, which showed a <strong>-6% YoY<\/strong> decline, but recorded a <strong>+7% MoM<\/strong> increase.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the combined <strong>market share<\/strong> of these two brands has decreased, which is now at the level of <strong>49.8%<\/strong> in December 2024. This is down quite significantly when compared to <strong>52.6%<\/strong> in December 2023 and remains stagnant at the <strong>same level of 49.8%<\/strong> since November 2024.<\/p>\n<h2>Cumulative Sales During FY24<\/h2>\n<p>Cumulatively during fiscal year 2024, Toyota&#8217;s wholesale sales reached only <strong>288,982 units<\/strong>, reflecting a <strong>decline of -14% YoY<\/strong>. On the other hand, Daihatsu recorded sales <strong>of 163,032 units<\/strong>, with a slightly better decline, namely <strong>-13% YoY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These figures reflect the challenges faced by these two brands amid increasingly fierce competition in the Indonesian automotive industry. Regardless, Astra International remains optimistic that its performance will improve in the future, especially with the launch of new models planned in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>With this decline, what is the response from investors and industry players to the next steps of ASII? Will they innovate further or stick to proven strategies?
