They recorded a net profit of 5.4 trillion rupiah, reflecting reasonable growth with an increase of 1% year-on-year (YoY) and 4.4% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). This is in line with market expectations predicting stable performance, equivalent to 23% of the consensus estimate for 2025. Of course, this achievement cannot be separated from maintaining the quality of assets that are still well maintained.

1. NIM Is Depressed, But Still Managed

At a glance about Net Interest Income (NII), BBNI experienced a growth of 4.7% YoY, reaching 9.8 trillion rupiah. However, challenges arose with depressed loan yields at 7.4% (compared to 1Q24 at 7.5% and 4Q24 at 7.9%) due to increased competition in the lending sector. With loans growing 10% YoY, interest income only grew 5.3% YoY, while interest expense increased by 6.1% YoY as BBNI prioritized liquidity amid tight market conditions. This led to the implementation of NIM which only touched 3.9%, far from management’s expectations which were targeted in the range of 4% to 4.2%.

This liquidity priority is reflected in the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) which decreased to 93% from the previous position of 96% in December 2024. BBNI management seems optimistic even though banking liquidity conditions are considered unstable due to rupiah exchange rate pressure.

2. Asset Quality Maintains Stability

The quality of BBNI’s assets also showed a fairly solid performance. Credit costs (CoC) stood at 0.9% in Q1 2025, slightly below management’s 1% guidance, indicating a reversal in some corporate clients. Meanwhile, Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) were stable at 2%, and Loans at Risk (LAR) were also relatively maintained at 10.9% as of Q1 2025. Various management strategies to manage risk due to the negative impact of global trade tensions are also starting to show positive results.

Key Takeaway

In general, we note that BBNI’s performance in the first quarter of 2025 tends to be neutral. With the focus of management still maintaining the 2025 guidance, it is possible that there will be revisions in the future depending on performance in the second quarter of 2025.

💰 DMAS: Dividend of IDR 29/share, Yield Indication of 16.3%

Puradelta Lestari (DMAS) has recently stolen investors’ attention with the announcement of a dividend of 1.4 trillion rupiah or 29 rupiah per share. This is equivalent to a dividend payout ratio of 105% and reflects a dividend yield of up to 16.3%! The payment date and date are still pending further announcement.

That’s an interesting overview of BBNI’s financial statements and developments in the market.
