2030, PLN Targets to Manage 28.9 GW of EBT Power Plants
President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said the capacity of new and renewable energy (EBT) managed by the company will continue to increase.
By 2030, the total environmentally friendly power generation capacity is targeted to reach 28.9 gigawatts (GW). According to the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2021-2030, PLN will increase the capacity of EBT by 20.9 GW.
As of September 2022, PLN has successfully operated an EBT plant with a total capacity of 8 GW. "The portion of NRE development reached 51.6% in this green RUPTL. We are committed to carrying out the energy transition," said Darmawan in his statement, Tuesday (25/10).
The NRE development of 20.9 GW will be dominated by hydroelectric power (PLTA). The total additional installed hydropower capacity can reach 10.4 GW.
The installation of solar power plants (PLTS) will also be boosted, with a total additional installed capacity of 4.7 GW until 2030. Indonesia has geothermal potential that can be developed.
The plan is that by 2030, the total additional installed capacity of geothermal power plants (PLTP) is 3.4 GW. "We are exploring the potential of other resources, such as wind, biomass, biogas, waste and EBT baseload generators. The total additional development capacity reaches 2.5 GW," he said.
"Especially for this year, PLN has succeeded in adding NRE capacity by 159.35 megawatts (MW) from power plants in 20 locations," added Darmawan.
The number of additional NRE power is said to have increased significantly. This is because of the 11 targeted power plant locations, the realization reached 20 generating locations. In detail, 87.07 MW is generated by hydropower, 69.38 MW from PLTP and 2.91 MW from PLTS.
“Right now, we are facing an energy transition. Next, we will use an EBT-based power plant," he concluded.
