By 2030, Eleven Data Centers will be Built in Batam

The moratorium on data center development in Singapore is a blessing for Batam. The island is now the target of investors who want to do data center business.

Currently, the process of building three data centers is underway in the Nongsa area, Batam, Riau Islands. According to the Director of Nongsa Digital Park, Peter Vincen, by 2030 11 data centers will be built in the area he manages.

“Investors who build data centers vary. We are part of managing the infrastructure,” said Peter in Batam, Sunday (28/8/2022). He added that one of the reasons for choosing Batam for the construction of the data center was the position of the area outside the Indonesian ring of fire .

In addition, his party also claimed to be able to prepare a stable electricity supply. For the continued operation of the data center, according to Peter, a stable power supply is key.

He added that the total investment value of the construction of the eleven data centers is around Rp 40 trillion. In the future, he believes that the data center will be a very promising business.

One complex with the data center area is also built digital training centers. In addition, there is also an animation studio that works on content for major vendors such as Hollywood, Netflix, Nickelodeon, and so on.

According to the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, the data center business in Batam is very promising. He also added that the moratorium on the construction of a data center in Singapore would benefit Batam.

He revealed that currently his party continues to encourage infrastructure improvements in Batam. “We will also continue to provide convenience for investors,” he said.
