Next year, Pelita Air wants to open Hajj and Umrah flights

PT Pelita Air Service (PAS) plans to open Hajj and Umrah flight services to the Holy Land in 2023. The airline operated its first commercial service in April, previously focusing on logistics and charter flights.

"All airlines will look there (Umrah flights), us too. But, not this year, next year will be more prepared," said Pelita Air President Director Dendy Kurniawan, Thursday (20/10).

His party will seize the market opportunity which is quite large from hajj and umrah flights. Moreover, many prospective Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia are lining up to worship in the Holy Land.

"The Umrah market has the potential to be worked on. Whatever the capacity (of planes) for Hajj and Umrah, it will be lacking. That's the segment that we will work on next year," concluded Dendy.

Currently, Pertamina's subsidiary airline is focusing on domestic routes, of which only two routes have been opened. The details are Jakarta-Denpasar round trip (pp) and Jakarta-Yogyakarta pp.

Pelita Air Service has three units of Airbus A320 aircraft. In the future, the airline plans to open travel routes to a number of tourist destinations, such as Medan in North Sumatra and Surabaya in East Java.
