The heir of the Soekarno lineage, Puan is quite popular in East Java

East Java is one of the base provinces of the PDIP. Party figures bearing the bull symbol are quite popular in the province. Among them are Puan Maharani and Ganjar Pranowo.

Executive Director of National Political Studies (KPN) Adib Miftahul said East Java was Soekarno's birthplace. As the heir to the line of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, is quite popular in East Java. "The figure of Puan who is very well known and liked by residents in East Java," said Adib Miftahul to reporters, Thursday (20/10).

Adib Miftahul's opinion refers to the portrait from the TERUKUR survey. From the agency's survey, Puan Maharani's popularity reached 75.6 percent and while Ganjar Pranowo was 75.0 percent.

“The survey results are not too surprising, because East Java is the basis of PDIP. So naturally the figure of Puan Maharani is very familiar to local residents," he continued.

The survey was carried out in the period 4-11 October 2022 in 38 regencies/cities in East Java. The survey margin of error is ±2.9 percent and with a confidence level of 95 percent.

However, Adib reminded Puan that she had to work even harder to get support. Because in terms of electability, Puan is still far behind Ganjar. The governor of Central Java received 23.4 percent. While Puan only 8.2 percent. Puan's electability also lost to Prabowo Subianto who got 13.8 percent.

Ganjar's high electability is because there are questions asked to respondents from the survey. Namely, who will be the presidential candidate to replace Joko Widodo. The answer, the highest choice goes to Ganjar Pranowo, then Prabowo Subianto, and Puan Maharani.

"The opportunity or ticket for Puan Maharani is still wide open, if PDIP decides to carry Puan herself as a presidential candidate," he said.

In terms of the electability of political parties, in East Java, based on the results of the Measured survey, PDIP is in first place, which is 21.6 percent. Followed by PKB 10.2 percent and Gerindra 6.6 percent.
