Persebaya Surabaya received an injection of player ammunition against Madura United in the match titled "Derby Suramadu" in the fourth week of the Indonesian League 1 match of the 2022–2023 season.

This happened after two of their foreign players who had missed the Green Force's 0-1 defeat against Bhayangkara FC last week were able to return to play, namely defender Leo Lelis and striker Silvio Junior.

"Silvio has participated in training and Leo Lelis is ready to appear to mobilize the team's back line," Persebaya coach Aji Santoso confirmed in Surabaya, Sunday morning (14/8).

Persebaya will face Madura United who are currently at the top of the standings at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, which kicks off at 16.00 WIB. Even though Madura United have never lost in their first three matches, Aji Santoso asked his players not to overestimate the opponent and be determined to get full points at home.

"Our opponents are really good and have quality players, but we are playing at home and whoever I play with is 100 percent ready," he added.

Apart from Leo Lelis and Silvio Junior, a number of players who had been absent from defending teams such as Supriyadi and Alwi Slamat have recovered and are included in the line-up.

However, said Aji, Persebaya's young midfielder Marselino Ferdinand is still in doubt because he is undergoing a very vulnerable recovery period if forced to appear. "I don't want Marcelino to get injured again. I want Marselino to fully recover so that when I perform later I will not worry about his injury," said the coach from Malang.

Meanwhile, Persebaya Surabaya's Rizky Ridho expressed his readiness to regain full points at home to make up for last week's defeat. “Representing the players, my friends and I will perform optimally for Persebaya. We are determined to get the three points even though the match will not be easy," he said. "We have been practicing and trying to reduce mistakes in the field," added the Indonesian national team defender. (*)
