Persebaya Surabaya’s list of injured players increases. Leo Lelis got a hamstring injury in the match against PSM Makassar (10/9). He was replaced by Riswan Lauhim in the 29th minute.
When checked on the field, the injury was not too severe. The team of doctors had time to perform treatment at the Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium, Parepare.
“When we checked on the pitch, it turned out that his left hamstring was pulled. It’s actually very thin. However, we decided to replace it because it was too risky,” said Persebaya team doctor Ahmad Ridho to Jawa Pos.
Ridho doesn’t want to take the risk. He asked the coaching team to pull Lelis out. “If forced, later fear that he (Lelis) will not be able to play against RANS Nusantara FC,” explained the man from Surabaya.
The match against RANS will be held on Thursday (15/9). Until now, the team of doctors have not carried out further examinations related to Lelis’ injury.
Yesterday the new team landed in Surabaya. No training has been carried out by the Green Force squad. They just practiced this afternoon. Well, that’s when the team of doctors will conduct a follow-up examination.
“We will see how he is in training. From there, we can decide whether Lelis can play against RANS or not,” said Ridho.
He hoped Lelis’ injury wasn’t too serious. Because, the match against RANS only leaves three days of practice. Obviously very minimal time to do recovery.
“Three days is very tight. I hope Lelis is injured due to lack of warm-up. Moreover, the contours of the field in Parepare are rather harsh. So, make the muscles tense,” he explained.
If Lelis’s injury cannot recover quickly, the strength of the Green Force will certainly be further reduced. Currently, there are two Persebaya players who are still being treated. Namely, Higor Vidal and Brylian Aldama who are both suffering from hamstring injuries. In fact, the two players are predicted to take a long time to come back.
Not to mention Marselino Ferdinand who also couldn’t join the team. He got a call-up to the U-19 national team. Indeed, there are still Dandi Maulana and Riswan Lauhim who can replace Lelis’ position. But, so far the performance of both has not been too convincing.
