The goal for Deltras was Rendi Irwan's first goal after 18 months

Rendi Irwan scored no goals last season. His last goal was scored on March 28, 2021. At that time, Persebaya Surabaya won 2-1 over Madura United in the 2021 Menpora Cup.

And, 18 months later, that goal came back. Yesterday afternoon Rendi scored the goal of Putra Delta Sidoarjo (PDS) in the eastern group of Liga 2 2022–2023.

His goal in the 66th minute also brought Deltras Sidoarjo to a 3-1 win over PDS. The 35-year-old was so emotional. He immediately ran towards Deltamania.

“It’s been over a year without a goal, so I’m very happy. Moreover, this is my first goal for Deltras. Hopefully this will be a good start for the team and for me personally,” the Lobster captain told Jawa Pos.

The goal was recorded through a left foot kick. Rendi actually didn’t think so. ”My focus is just playing and bringing the team to win,” he added.

The opening goal at the Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo, was scored by M. Risal Amin in the 16th minute. PDS equalized with Indra Setiawan’s long-range shot (32′).

Deltras took the lead again through Crah Angger in the 43rd minute. Before finally Rendi closed the match to 3-1.

”Alhamdulillah, we got three points again. After this we focus away to Papua,”said coach Deltras Ibnu Grahan.

The two victories are certainly valuable capital. After this, Deltras will face PSBS Biak (11/9) and Persipura Jayapura (18/9).

”The team will leave for Papua on September 8th. I ask all players to immediately focus on the two away games,” explained Ibnu.

Deltras didn’t want to be missed. Therefore, Ibn will fix a few things. One of them is finishing. In the first half, Ibnu noted that there were five golden opportunities.

”Rikza (Syahwali) had many opportunities, but always failed to take advantage of a goal. Three of them hit the pole,” said Ibnu.

In fact, if the goal is fruitful, Deltras can lock the victory faster. He hopes it will not be repeated in the away game. Moreover, the Papua tour will obviously drain the players’ physical condition.

On the other hand, PDS regretted the defeat. The coach Didik Ludianto has a reason why his team lost badly.

”Our game is very influential because there is no core defender Zainal Haq. Children lack concentration so that goals can occur,”explained Didik. Zainal himself absent due to injury.

Didik did not want his team to lose points again. ”After this, we have to win against Persiba Balikpapan at home,” he said.

Victory must be won. Because, after that, PDS will undergo three away games. Two of them were against teams from Papua.

”We have to convey to the players that Liga 2 is cruel. We must not lose points if we want to survive,” said Didik.
